Formulation for hand cream
Formulation of Hand
cream (cosmetic)
Sometimes you have everything needed to venture
in cosmetic industry but the challenge always arise when you don’t know to
formulate the required ingredients to get your desired product.
Formulation is the act of preparing/mixing something following a particular
formula. In this case it is the mixing of chemicals to make hand cream. A cream
is a thick or semisolid cosmetic or medical preparation to the skin. Hand cream
is a cream for human hands application. Cosmetic is a product used
for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness or alternating
someone appearance. This formulation is best for those who wish to start making
hand creams.

Note: The quantities of
the chemicals are in percentage (%).
Choose any formulation from number (1) to (7),
and then scan through it from top to bottom or vice versa (scan through it
vertically). For instance, let me take formulation number (1). I will use these
ingredients in making my hand cream: Cetyl alcohol 2%, Lanolin 1%, Mineral
oil 2%, Strearic acid 13%, Glycerol 12%, Methyl paraben 0.15%, Potassium
hydroxide 1%, and water 68.85%. If you add all these they equal to 100%:
2% + 1% + 2% + 13% + 12% + 0.15% + 1% + 68.85% =
100%
Example:
You are to make hand cream weighing 1000 grams,
use formulation number one to calculate each chemical you need in the process.
2.
Lanolin = (1/100 X 1000 grams) = 10 grams
3.
Mineral oil = (2/100 X 1000 grams) = 20 grams
5.
Glycerol = (12/100 X 1000 grams)
= 120 grams
6.
Methyl paraben = ( 0.15/100 X 1000 grams)
= 1.5 grams
7.
Potassium hydroxide = (1/100 X 1000 grams)
= 10 grams
8.
Water = ( 68.85/100 X 1000 grams)
= 688.5 grams
I hope this formulation may help you in your
work.
