Entrepreneurship versus intrapreneurship and self-employed

Entrepreneur is person who finds a new business venture. This definition makes entrepreneurship a hard nut to crack by many and they often say: I’m not brilliant; I don’t have excellent financial background to think of entrepreneurship as what I can pursue. Intrapreneurship is the act of harnessing of entrepreneurial behavior within an organization. For example, some higher learning institutions have come up with incubation centres to utilize the entrepreneurial skills its members have. In Kenya one of the institutions with such kind of system is Kenyatta University. KU(CBIIC) provides space for 70% of its students and employees with innovative idea and 30% to the non-KU members. This encourages entrepreneurial culture in the society. It can effectively reduce the number of job-seekers.

Self-employed is  referred to small business owner and he/she is the person who believes nobody can do it better than her/him. In the process he/she is overworked and overburden. Often self-employed is given the same meaning as entrepreneurship but that is not true.

An entrepreneur is like a surfer with an enthusiastic mindset for his activity, constructing on his/her own abilities and favorites, enjoying the challenge of ever changing waves and winds, speedily overcoming mistakes or inconsequential setbacks. The surfer is ever thinking to sharpening his/her talents, collecting new know-how, receiving all existing ideas and using them in an innovative and effective way.

Self-employed is like a seaman on a tattered cruising ship with all the components as if avowed against him/her, troubling the ever-changing waves and winds, missing adequate ingredients and qualifications. Maybe his/her novel professional choices could not be pursued, were absent at all or this state turned against him/her.So here he/she is, stuck with his sailing ship. He/she is in a worried attitude, expecting nothing but trouble and storm, cynical towards new thoughts or new ideas.
