Schools' Unrest and Paraffin
School
chaos has been an issue for a long time. Principals and stakeholders think the
primary cause of this is the immoral behaviors in our society. Studies indicate
the reasons for the school unrest and early pregnancies among high school
students could be a result of the alleged use of paraffin in their foods. It
has been claimed that school heads are using paraffin to reduce the libido of
students, but, studies show there is no relationship between paraffin
and libido reduction. Contrary to the
perception of the ability of paraffin to reduce libido, researchers
indicated that crude paraffin supplementation is likely to increase the testosterone hormone in the human body. The
research which was done to determine the relationship between testosterone
hormone levels and sex drive among teenagers indicated that boys who
possessed high levels of testosterone hormone reported high sexual activity and
aggressiveness. The testosterone hormone is
a chemical molecule that is responsible for secondary characteristics in
males, as pointed out by Society and Endocrinology.
The research carried out to investigate the
effects crude paraffin has on the testosterone hormone levels, toxicity, and
aggression in rat models reported that the crude kerosene supplement increased
the levels of testosterone levels in the rat models. The increased levels of
testosterone hormone were also associated with aggression among the mouse models. According to these previous studies, one can say that paraffin may be the
cause of school unrest and early pregnancies among teenagers and therefore,
the school heads and stakeholders should find an alternative means of reducing
libido among the students if in any case, they supplement students’ food with paraffin. Paraffin is also associated with health
issues, for instance, scholars argued that it increases the levels of white
cells in the body, and this increase can lead to blood clots hence, blocking
the arteries. Paraffin is associated with active and chronic gastritis in the
stomach as shown in the early investigations.
Why is paraffin likely to increase the
testosterone hormone level?
Paraffin
consists of straight and branched alkanes, and naphthalene (cycloalkanes)-constitute
70% of paraffin volume. Furthermore, paraffin also contains aromatic hydrocarbons
(both single and double ring(s) alkylbenzenes)-which constitute 25% by volume of
paraffin. If you compare the structure of testosterone hormone and chemical components
in kerosene, then these kerosene constituents can act as precursors in testosterone
hormone biosynthesis, and therefore, its use in foods increases testosterone hormone
levels. The structures of these chemicals
(naphthalene, alkyl benzene, and testosterone hormone) are shown below.
